Summary:  The Recreation Leader will be responsible for greeting and assisting visitors, managing inquiries, and ensuring the smooth flow of activities at the facility. Responsibilities include administrative tasks, providing information, and upholding a high level of customer service to create a positive experience for all patrons. 

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to: Aquatics Coordinator, Head Lifeguard

Other: Works Closely with Parks Director and Recreation Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors pool attractions for safety and relays safe usage information and rules to patrons.
  • Keeps accurate counts of the number of pool patrons entering and exiting facility.
  • Tracks individual transactions by using cash register and point of sale system.
  • Collects admission fees from pool patrons and accurately gives change.
  • Tabulates daily receipts and counts closing money. 
  • Completes all necessary forms for daily operation and closing procedures.
  • Ensures that all money and valuables are kept secure.
  • Assists with facility cleanliness, appearance, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Maintains organized work and records environment.
  • Provides strict but courteous enforcement of all pool rules and regulations and reports incidents to manager on duty or Aquatic Coordinator.
  • Provides Excellent customer service to all pool patrons and fellow employees.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:

Must be 16 years or older. Reliable transportation required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Previous cash handling experience. CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications are preferred. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications are required within the first 30 days of hire.  
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge and competency of facility specific emergency procedures. 
  • Ability to function effectively under direct supervision and to develop effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to receive directions and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Exhibit professional work habits including reliability, dependability, creativity, and demonstration of enthusiasm for the job.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours and at various intervals, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours. 
  • Must be able to work well with people of all ages and dispositions.

Equipment, Machines, Tools, and Work Aids:  

Computer Software (CivicRec), online point of sale system, splash pad and pool chemical readings 

Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and push, pull, drag up to 50 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
